Now that's a fabulous waltz, you're right, and the music definitely had something to do with it. Oh, I miss the old stage so much. Go back and watch that again--do you HEAR that crowd? Amazing. I think you do have something there with the music choice. If it's just kinda plain 1-2-3, etc., with no real theme to it, it can take away from it.
