Isadora Duncan Dance Quotes
January 21st, 2010 by soullldiva
More from my muse, the ever-lovely Miss Isadora Duncan:
If we seek the real source of the dance, if we go to nature,
we find that the dance of the future is the dance of the past,
the dance of eternity, and has been and always will be the same…
The movement of waves, of winds, of the earth
is ever the same lasting harmony.” Isadora Duncan
Reads like a poem, doesn’t it? I like the idea of dance being part of the earth, of the universe, like it has been and always will exist. Hmmm…very nice. ;o)

Glad to know others appreciate her!!! Lori Belilove
The Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation / Company was founded by me to honor and preserve the seminal and ground breaking work of Isadora Duncan. Isadora was a true iconoclast who broke boundaries for women by setting an example of living by her personal choices and illuminating true female emotions in her performances. She founded several schools to provide arts, education and empowerment to girls in Europe in the WWI era when there were few opportunities for them. Her inspiration and work was the genesis for the founding of the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation.

The Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to extending the dream, dance legacy, and indomitable spirit of Isadora Duncan. The Foundation is based in New York City and supports the work of its resident performing troupe, Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company. The Company offers hundreds of performances annually of Isadora’s original choreography as passed down through generations of Duncan dancers, in addition to new works, educational workshops and creative programs that nurture the soul and lift the spirit.

ABOUT THE CLASSES FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN:
The classes begin on the floor with fluid warm-up movements and breathing exercises. The class progresses to standing and moving through a series of Duncan movements that expand upward and outward to flow through the entire body. All of the movement is supported by music of the great classical masters. Particular attention will be paid to the musicality within the Duncan tradition as the students accomplish skips, runs, leaps, polkas and waltzes. All of the classes include a creative time for improvisation. Through our movement we will experience Isadora Duncan within the artistic world of Renaissance painting, sculpture, Greek mythology, poetry and music that inspired her.
Lori, Belilove hailed as “radiantly persuasive” by The New York Times for her dance performances and choreography, will bring her extensive expertise to these classes and offer an enriching experience for all.

Yes, she was a free, artistic spirit and I love her for what she gave the dance world. Thanks for letting us know about your Foundation!
